On the morning of the excursion, take the 6:17 AM regional train from Catania Centrale towards Messina and get off at Fiumefreddo di Sicilia Railway Station, arriving at approximately 6:50 AM.
Outside the station, our driver will be waiting for you. For €20 per person, the transfer service will take you directly to the starting point of the excursion and, after the activity, will bring you back to Fiumefreddo railway station.

Take the 6:15 AM Etna Trasporti bus from Taormina Bus Terminal to Giardini Naxos railway station. The journey takes approximately 10 minutes, arriving at 6:25 AM.
From Taormina-Giardini Railway Station, board the Regional Train 12953 departing at 6:32 AM and arriving at Fiumefreddo di Sicilia Railway Station at 6:47 AM.

The North side - Piano Provenzana is the most "evocative" side, the "greenest" side. The contrast between the "Bosco Ragabo" and the volcanic landscape make this side of Etna unique in the world. The emotion you feel as soon as the wooded area ends and you arrive at Piano Provenzana with Etna in the background, in its most majestic side, makes the moment surreal.
The proximity to the summer resorts of Giardini Naxos (40 min), Taormina (50 min) make this side more convenient to reach for those staying in these locations.
Personally we recommend the side of Etna Nord - Piano Provenzana, without a doubt.
Due to its characteristics it will give you a unique and unforgettable experience.
To get to this side of the volcano you will travel along the panoramic and unique Mareneve road, characterized by lush vegetation of yellow broom flowers and coniferous forests, until you reach the lava flows that enveloped Piano Provenzana in 2002, causing its total destruction.
This side of the volcano is much less crowded than the south side, making it ideal for those looking for a unique experience away from crowded places.
