Serracozzo trail excursion - Visit the cave and the Valle del Bove

The excursion to the Serracozzo cave allows you to walk along immense lava fields, ancient woods, old craters and caves of lava flow. This itinerary contains in a few kilometers the true essence of the Etna volcano.

The meeting point is Rifugio Citelli - Linguaglossa - Etna Nord.

The excursion to the Belvedere of the "Valle del Bove" and to the "Grotta di Serracozzo" is one of the most beautiful to visit both the beautiful Serracozzo cave and the majestic one Valle del Bove. The route starts from the Citelli refuge, at an altitude of 1750 meters. The first part of the route winds through beech, birch, chestnut and pine trees. After about 2 km, you reach the crater formed in 1971 in which the grotto. After visiting one of the most beautiful caves of Etna, continue overcoming some lava gullies, to get to "Serra delle Concazze" from where you can admire the Valle del Bove at an altitude of 1910. From there you can admire the entire volcanic structure and the summit craters. Continue to climb up on the edge of the Valle del Bove until you reach an altitude of 2100 meters, and then take the downhill path that quickly takes you back to the starting point along a sandy channel.
