Excursions Summit craters from Etna North

90,00 85,00

The hike on the summit craters is certainly the most fascinating that can be done on the ETNA.
During the trek it will be possible to observe the vastness of the crater depressions, impregnated with sulphates, from which the great part of the explosive activity is expressed, arousing in visitors a feeling of arcane power that other few places in the world are able to transmit.

Ascent by 4 × 4 jeep along the panoramic road on the north side of the volcano, up to 2965 m. From this point the ascent will start on foot along a path, surrounded by bombs and volcanic slag for a total height difference of 300 meters up to the edge of the Central Crater of Etna, at an altitude of 3300 meters.
Once on the summit, we will stop to admire the greatness and uniqueness of the volcanic environment and the processes connected to it, together with the spectacle of the panorama from the roof of Sicily (visibility variable according to atmospheric and volcanic conditions).
The descent will take place on soft slag and volcanic ash passing from Piano delle Concazze 2750 mt. at the base of the Volcanological Observatory and then continue into one of the sandy gullies that make up the north-eastern slope of the volcano, surrounded by endemic plants and seasonal streams before reaching the descent track and the beech forest just above Piano Provenzana, point of arrival of our excursion.
